Frequently Asked Questions

Outpatient rehab allows clients to live at home and participate in treatment at an outpatient center during the daytime or in the evening. This type of program affords people more freedom in treatment, giving clients the ability to maintain a job and keep up with day-to-day responsibilities at home. Those just beginning outpatient care may need daily sessions with a therapist or clinical staff, while those further along in recovery (or with less severe addictions) may be successful with part-time sessions once or twice per week.

Outpatient programs usually last anywhere from to two to four months, as this is the window of time in which those in recovery are most vulnerable to relapse. The length of time a client spends in outpatient care depends on their progress in recovery, which takes into account their mental stability and physical health.

We hope so! Family involvement in the rehab process is another important factor to consider in weighing outpatient treatment options. Because addiction affects the entire family, programs that offer family therapy, education, support and other resources are beneficial in helping family members work through the chaos they’ve experienced, set healthy boundaries and rebuild relationships. At Lake Charles Addiction and Wellness Center we offer individual and group counseling for families needing guidance and support through the recovery process.

The goal of outpatient care programs at Lake Charles Addiction and Wellness Center is to stabilize your health and equip you with the knowledge, skills and resources to help you reclaim your life from addiction and prevent relapse.

Your pace through outpatient rehab won’t be identical to those around you. While there are common milestones in healing from addiction, your treatment and recovery path is your own—based on your specific situation, challenges and needs. Like diabetes or hypertension, addiction is a chronic disease. Regaining and maintaining your health means learning to manage your symptoms, with the structure and support of a treatment setting and eventually in your home environment where you’re in charge of your sobriety.

Most outpatient addiction treatment programs are covered by insurance, so the cost of treatment is based on your insurance plan and your out-of-pocket responsibilities. Call us today at 337 513-6121 and our staff can work with you and your insurance provider to figure out your specific costs.

Virtual Visit allows clients to connect to their counselor from any computer or mobile device with internet capability and receive face to face counseling service during the daytime or in the evening. This type of service allows patient more convenient, individualized treatment and support. Those just beginning outpatient care may need daily sessions with a therapist or clinical staff, while those further along in recovery (or with less severe addictions) may be successful with part-time sessions once or twice per week. Virtual Visits eliminate driving time or frustrating traffic issues.

Many people are able to get and remain sober without medication assistance. In some cases, medication options are available. Medications can be used to help reduce cravings and decrease your risk of relapse. Through a medical evaluation process, we will find the best option for your individual need. (Some examples: Vivitrol, Suboxone, Lucemyra)

Depending on the severity of the withdrawal symptoms and type of dependency, an addicted person may be eligible for outpatient detoxification. This type of treatment is provided by a team of different types of treatment professionals; such as, a doctor, counselor, and other health professionals. Some people may be prompted to stop using a substance “cold turkey”; however, support and counseling provide assistance through the withdrawal process. Our goal is to reduce risk of reuse and help ease the symptoms of detox.
